I love being positive and talking about perfecting our booties and sharing tips with you. But today is not one of those emails. I have had this on my mind a lot lately and I couldn’t shake it so I had to share it with you.
Let me warn you that this post takes a very negative turn. Here goes…
Exercise Because —Your Family Loves You
When we are young we rarely think about getting old and feeble. As we get older our bodies feel like they are changing daily & for the worst 😉 Things like our booties & boobs begin to fall. Wrinkles begin to form in the worst places. Turkey necks start forming, then comes the saddle bags, and muffin tops. And those are just some of the things changing on our exterior.
Things are also changing on the inside of our bodies just like the outside even though we don’t see the changes. Or heart and lungs are getting weaker if we are not challenging them. Our muscles are shrinking. Inflammation and sickly cells are forming. Our blood sugar levels may become more unstable. Hormone levels drop. Our joints and bones get weaker. Even our blood flow is decreased. And the list goes on and on.
I wish for you that you are around for many more healthy years. I wish for you that you feel younger with each year that passes.
To realize these wishes it may mean making the sometimes tough choices to keep our insides and outsides YOUNG and healthy no matter our physical age.
My Father-in-Law did not make these tough choices. And unfortunately it killed him. Yep – we lost him at age 61 this past summer. Sorry to take such a sad turn in this email BUT it happened . . . and for all the wrong reasons. Now my husband has no dad. It makes me so sad for my husband and his brother to be in their 30’s and have a dead father. A father that would still be with them if he had taken care of his one body. If he had made the tough choices to live healthier.
Even small steps in the right direction could have made a huge impact. He didn’t have to be Mr. Fitness. He didn’t have to have the perfect diet. All that he had to do was make little tweaks and changes to his lifestyle choices, fitness and diet along the way. It would have made ALL the difference.
As we have all been told many times, exercise is a great way to fend off all sorts of health issues, many of them life-threatening. Eating REAL food is also key to living longer and avoiding DEADLY illnesses.
Smoking, drugs, and high alcohol consumption definitely cut our years on this earth. But how about drinking at least a little water instead of all carbonated chemicals and sugary juices & coffees we drink. These tweaks will improve our health and ensure that we live longer. Little steps in the right direction make BIG health improvements.
Why are we getting bigger, more unhappy & unhealthy as a people? Why don’t we take better care of this one and only body we have been blessed with? My plea to you today is this: If you won’t do it for yourself then do it to show love to your family members who love you – Do it for them.
We can all make positive improvements as none of us is perfect. We can all take itty bitty steps in the right direction. How about we pick just one little thing to work on.
My one little thing: I am adding 10 push-ups each day. That is 1 little thing that I can add that takes less than 30 seconds to do but makes me feel 30 times better.
Join me – What is one tweak that could begin to make a healthier you?
