Anytime I see a jump rope I am immediately reminded of my childhood. If I pick it up and start jumping with the rope I can’t help but feel like a child again.
As adults, somewhere along the way we stopped jumping. We don’t remember when it happened. We didn’t make a conscious decision to stop jumping. We just stopped. Wasn’t it fun? So why did we stop?
When was the last time you jumped rope? Many of us may have not jumped rope in so long that we have forgotten how.
Check out my Super Girl Jump Rope Workout. This workout is only 4 minutes with only 4 exercises using the jump rope. You can do this workout with an invisible jump rope if you don’t have a real one. Let’s jump like we are kids again!
Not ready to jump? Start with a toe raise and work your way back up to jumping. Just get up and move your body. You will be jumping in no time.
I bet many of you were master jump ropers as kids doing all the tricks. I remember double dutch, jumping backwards, the criss cross, 1 leg, the bell, double turns.
This is the chant that my friends and I would jump to:
Cinderalla Dressed in Yella
Cinderella dressed in yella,
Went downstairs to kiss a fella,
Made a mistake and kissed a snake.
How many doctors did it take
1, 2, 3, . . . .
I bet my momma got really sick of hearing this chant over and over! Sorry mom.
Besides feeling like a kid again there are loads of other awesome benefits from jumping rope like:
- Improves Rhythm & Coordination
- A Killer Fat Burning Exercise
- Makes Your Heart Stronger
- Makes Your Lungs Stronger
- Tones & Strengthens Calves (you will look great in those stilettos)
Grab a rope, pick your favorite chant and let’s jump! Who cares if you mess up? I tripped in my very first jump in this video. Oops!
